ADVOCACY

Together to Build an Inclusive, Equitable, and Just World. Encourage social and economic development through migration by ensuring the well-being of migrants at their workplaces by upholding human dignity without exploitation Despite earnest efforts for the betterment of the migrant's life by different stakeholders in the migrant world, the appalling conditions they are subjected to are growing, with no light at the end of the tunnel. Leave No Migrant Behind. Redundant migration rules, regulations and policies should be changed to suit the present-day rights and dignity based SDG goals in the GCM frameworks for "safe, orderly and regular migration". Migration should be a choice and not a necessity, migration is for Gain not for Drain in tune with UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

STUDENTS' FORUM

India is the world’s second-largest student-sending country next to China. Student migration is an area with disorder and there is no system in place to manage or facilitate organized student mobility from India. The present-day trend is about 20 to 30% of the students who peruse higher studies opt for foreign universities. The self-processed student applicants experience comparatively safer mobility, but they are a minority. But the majority is prey to third-party facilitators who lack transparency and regularization. The students are treated by some countries as cheap labor and forced to work even as domestic helpers, caregivers and home nurses to find their food, student fees, and accommodation. This necessitates an urgent policy-level intervention for the management of student migration as it has a lot of socio-economic and psychological-emotional repercussions, including brain drain and economic drain due to reverse remittance. This demands a policy-level intervention for the safety, security, and well-being of the students. The sad part is that the government of India doesn’t have any data on these students and this vulnerability was exposed during the Russia – Ukraine political crisis. All the students going abroad must be issued ID cards, insurance facilities, and subsidized loans to facilitate their studies
